Act 3 Scene 3 Desdemona
This shows us that Desdemona is either a really loyal friend, or she has a thing for Cassio. If she didn like Cassio she probably wouldnt try to get him to stay around so badly, she was talking anout bugging Othello whenever she could just so he could get his job back. Going to that extent makes her seem like she really is having an affair with him. The theme for this is loyalty because through the whole story so far it has tested the limits of loyalty between friends ( and foes) like Iago and Othello and Cassio and Othello. Iago being on Othellos good side makes him seem disgustingly loyal to him but knowing Iago it is clear that he has some type of corruption that makes him TOO loyal.
Watch him tame means to keep him awake at night until he is agreeable ( a method of taming falcons)
why would Desdemona care so much if Cassio got fired and banished?
is it possible she is having an affair with Cassio?

Is he ever going to change back into a person?
lavishly: Characterized by or produced with extravagance and profusion
I think that his life will change completely around, him being a bug and not being able to work and make money to pay off his parents debt. This might make them get kicked out so then he would be a homeless giant bug which would not be any easier. He might change back into a person but he first has to find out how he changed in the begining, he probably has to go through a personal transformation with himself as a person for him to turn back. Today we talked about how Gregor is feeling now that the fact that he is a bug is sinking in. I think that he is sad that his mother can't stand the sight of him and he might possibly be one of the reasons her health is so bad. Also he knows he stills frightens his sister so that has to torment him seeing as how they used to be really close.

i think that is exactly what he was getting at. The way that the government was trying to control everyone and making it seem like Big Brother is the caring loving leader that people need to guide them is the nightmarish was that Orwell saw it happening. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
what do the girl and Winston hope to accomplish from his this secret relationship?
i think that they are trying to gain back those human feelings that they had before they were brainwashed. The sex kind of gave him an open mind that there was actual happiness outside the Party.
today we read about Winston and Julia going to meet O'brien at his house to talk about the brotherhood. After they get in his house they see that O'brien can turn offhis telescreen which amazes them. they talk about the brotherhood and discover that they are part of it and go through the normal process of being accepted. the recieve the the book which is to learn them about the way that the government is controlling society.
we talked about what "the book" was going to be about and that big brother isnt actually one person but a group of dictator that decide everything that goes on in the civilization. we also talked about why Winston heasitated to open the book, maybe because he was afraid or excited about what he had just gotten himself into. or he was worried that the perception on the government ruling the people was even worse then he imagined.

Jonathan Barker is now healed from the help of Van Helsing, Jonathan autmatically believes that Helsing will be able to help him in his troubles with Dracula. Mina and Van Helsing both have read through Jonathans diary so they are all on the same page about the situation. Van Helsing possilby read the article about the women biting women around town and he can infer that it might be Lucy since she has finally turned.
