Horatio at your service

Horatio is Hamlets stability in his broken family. With few words but calm presence he is able to understand and support Hamlet. Horatio is a loyal friend who tells Hamlets story. Horatio’s only family is Hamlet’s as far as we know. Horatio never speaks of his own family. Horatio is always there for Hamlet like his right hand man. He knows Hamlet’s family is broken, and all the corruption that is happening in it. Horatio understands all the pain Hamlet went through after his father’s death. I think Horatio must have had a broken family himself because he copes with Hamlet’s situation very well. “Here sweet lord, at your service.” (3.2.55) Horatio highly respects Hamlet, and Hamlet perceives how good a friend and servant Horatio is and feels like he can talk about anything with him. “Horatio, thou art e’en as just a man As e’er my conversation coped withal.” (3.3.46) Hamlet is telling Horatio that he is one that understands him. He can feel and know his conversation. Horatio speaks calmly and listens to Hamlets troubles of a broken family, he identifies with Hamlet’s feelings, that’s why I feel like Horatio has had a broken family himself.
